Been in Auckland nearly 2.
Compare to UK where the light rain/mist/drizzle can go on for month after
month. We are thinking of North Island.its Very easy to forget the sun is Strong here in NZ - a lot of people think as the climate is milder than Oz, the sun is weaker. We live nr Christchurch on the South Island.bartlettwrote:

nbsp;gt;but according to the fugures auckland has 3 times the rain as london. We want to escape the more or
lesscontinual grey skies and cloud of England, we have studied
weather charts etc but would like to talk to people who have been
there.New years day we spent on the beach and Phil got
really sunburn.5hrs drive south of Auckland)Police often close the desert road in winter(State Highway 1 just before Waiouru) due to hazardous conditions. We are thinking of North Island.

news:e1a964eb. We are looking for more blue sky days and warmer weather, so
nbsp;you can sit outside regularly. When we first arrived (this may sound silly) but I couldnt get over how much sky there was, I am convinced they have more sky round this side of the world! Since we arrived inthe begining of Nov at a guess i would say we have had about 12 horrid rainy days max.30pm watching the
nbsp;stadium cross champs at the local speedway track, it got a bit cold but
nbsp;clear and dry.nz/storydispl.When we arrived in the
middle of winter it was a case of jeans and a jumper, not really cold at all
and I can remember lots of day where I didn't need a jumper. What happens is that the snow doesnt lie very long and is
usually confined to just a part of the city, 15 mins maximum as it is
always very wet and the temperature is above 0 C. As I type this I am looking out on a huge
nbsp;cloudless blue sky and last night we sat out till 10.

I agree with Paula, we have been here since August.au. Got sunburnt today (was in park with friends.Snow can fall and
lie upto 3 C.

UK unless you want to be sectioned )

Lots of people say the weather is the same temperature as the UK but from my
experience its nothing like it.As I said it doesnt snow
everywhere and it never stays very long.

This is not intended to be legal advice in any jurisdiction

Rather, what happens is that there is a sudden torrential downpour, much
like in the tropics.bartlettwrote in message

and many more hours of sunshine.
nbsp;Hope this answers you questions. Is NZ the place for us? We cannot get
nbsp;into Australia, so only other possibility is USA. In 1/10th of the time!! It either bauckets down, or remains fine.google.com.

Article in today's NZ Herald stating NZ is heading for drought in some areas, soil moisture lowest for 20 years apparently.net.

nbsp;Winter - never snows in Auckland, though legend has it DID snow once
nbsp;somewhere in auckland in the 50's
nbsp; Not true. It is much warmer than the Uk we would definately sit outside regularly, if we had any patio furniture!
As I said before the skies here can be stunning in the early evenings they can be really beautiful.Any feedback welcome. When we first arrived (this may sound silly)
