There can be some bargain shopping done in KL and BKK - after 5pm there is China Town in city centre KL and in BKK there is all day shopping at stalls along the road sides on Sukhumvit and Silom Roads (except Wednesdays). The food is not exclusively spicey.

The KL airport is miles away from civilization. Count on washing your clothes 3 times before the smell of rotten sewers is expunged. As a bonus you arrive fresher in Aus than you would flying straight through.

We've made stopovers in KL a couple of times. The food in all three places is fantastic. If my mum liked it, it can't be too bad (sorry mum!)

We are leaving UK in August and have decided to go via USA for a month.

These are great places to visit, so incredibly different from anything you will see in the UK, anywhere in Europe, the US or any Westernised country. which airline does these sort of deals?British Aiyways/Qantas do a stop over in Japanit's a great city - try and make it 2/3 days if you can get the time. We stay for 3-4 days but have stayed a week before. Also Singapore and Bangcok.

We went to Brisbane last year, and flew with Singapore Airlines. Fantastic Place!!! Really nice city with lots of excellent, cheap hotels, and plently to do in KL, beer a bit pricy though.

As the cheapest flights seem to be with Malaysian airlines has anyone had a stopover in Kuala Lumpur and what was it like?

Any advice???

Thanks

Loopy
we havent stopped over but intend to when we go later on this year - the beauty of it is you get a free stopover and if you justb want to do it for the night - then there are a few airports on site - because apparently it is quite a distance is the centre from the airport.
