hi kerrie

the bay of plenty, especially tauranga, is very nice. My bro in law had a happy childhood there, though!

from one visit i found it a quiet town.Hi have any of you visited Gisborne or live in the area, my husband has just found a job advertised there that seems quite promising! We have 2 children and want to settle somewhere which is quite quiet and safe.waitomo caves, sailing, kauri forests, abseiling, etc.gisborneherald.co. There are some fantastic beaches and great countryside close by, but Gisborne is quite remote even by NZ standards.except for new years eve when it becomes a popular party town.nz/local
Thanks for your help guys it was sounding great untill the maroi gangs part, Any views on bay of plenty? or Wanganui (i know i`m darting about a bit) Won`t have longer than 10 days when we for a visit to nz so i want to make sure we spend our time wisely. presumably this forces the police ( community) to be proactive in the interests of public safety.
Hi there
My brother in law's family all live there and I have visited once.not a lot happens there! Apart from wine tasting mmm

try www.
it is remote in that it's quite a drive to get to or from the region.

I think quiet is accurate. Did strike me as a quiet place to live although nice community feel.

sounds like you're looking for a quiet place - which tauranga definitely is.the area has great beaches heaps of outdoors activities within striking range.
probably fairly safe place besides a couple of high profile maori gangs that reside there.
thanks for the help
