In the ACT the Government charges land tax on all investment property, as a
non resident you would be charged.telenet-ops.

There are concessions for some first home owners and low
value properties, as well as a concession on properties
under $250k owner occupied here in Qld.

Correct me if I am wrong, and I am sure many will, but I am
under the impression non-residents cannot own residential
real estate in Australia, unless the property vendor has
FIRB approval to sell to them. Go to this site and look under
calculators.56771$Jd. Once you own the home you will then have to pay council
rates annually which are generally based on the value of the property.au/guest/CBA_CALC_TPC3_input.

The tax on purchase of property is a state based one, called
Stamp duty, and varies dramatically from state to state.
