Avis locations inside the congestion charging zone will add £5 to the
first day rental to cover the congestion charge.

but will rental car companies be exempted (I doubt it)

anyone know for sure ?

news:20030217023847.The charge applies to vehicles parked or driven on public roads in the
charging zone during charging hours.

nbsp;gt;I presume it will work the same as for parking and speeding fines - if you
nbsp;gt;don't pay the congestion charge the rental company will receive the summons
nbsp;gt;and debit your credit card directly.uk/

nbsp;If its still unpaid at midnight then it goes up to 80UKP (or

That's just language.
nbsp;
nbsp;And remember that if you don't pay the 5 pounds by midnight on the day
nbsp;you incur the charge, then you automatically clock up an 80 pound fine.

I was curious to know what happened if I drove my german-registered car
through the streets of london, so I wrote
and asked. It was the 10UKP charge that I was making the point on. Signs in and around the congestion charging zone will make it clear
exactly where the zone starts and finishes.

BTW if you got to easyrentacar, you will see that the Barbican office
(inside the CC zone) they say Red Ken's** tax has been paid, but if
you go to the Earl's Court office (outside the zone) it just tells you
it has started.

** it's not Red Ken anymore, it's Canape Ken.

Rental companies are not exempt.
That's not actually true either.aol.30pm, fixed and mobile cameras both around the
boundary and within the charging zone will identify your vehicle
registration number and automatically check whether you
have paid.

nbsp;gt;How will they collect that on rental cars?
nbsp;gt;
nbsp;gt;I am not 100% sure how it works but I think you have to register your car
nbsp;gt;number and a CC card , cameras read your car number.

Jason.It means that it's 40UKP, and goes up to 80UKP
nbsp;gt;after 14 days. They will be
clearly recognisable with the congestion charging C symbol.co.
nbsp;
nbsp;They could just as well have said the congestion charges is 80UKP/day
nbsp;(or 5UKP is you pay before 10pm)

What happens if you enter 10:01 p.net.
